Red FM Hurling League Div 2 Rd 6

Fermoy 1-20 Bride Rovers 1-20

We made the short trip over to Rathcormac on Thursday evening last to clash hurleys with our neighbours Bride Rovers in this round of the Red FM hurling league. I am told a sizable crowd was in attendance and they were treated to a very exciting and entertaining hours hurling. The teams were locked together on several occasions and the Rovers pegged back a four point deficit at the end to force a draw. The second half was played out in very heavy wet conditions and it is a credit to both sides that the standard of hurling was kept very high.

The scorers for Fermoy in the first half were as follows: Arlen Aherne 2m, Shane Aherne 3m, Darragh Daly free 5m, Darragh free 6m, Arlen 8m, Martin Brennan10m, Darragh free 11m, Darragh free 13m, Shane Aherne 17m, Luke Aherne after an unreal catch from Shane 20m, Adam Creed 30m, Darragh 30m. Half time score Fermoy 0-12 Bride Rovers 0-11.

Second half free from Shane Coughlan our goalkeeper 32m, Darragh free 36m, Darragh free 37m, Darragh free 42m, Darragh free 47m, Brendan Daly goal 25m ( pulled first time on the sliothar after a great pass from his brother Darragh), Shane 57m, Darragh free 58m and our final point of the game was scored by Shane after some great work out of defence by Darragh O’Carroll and Greg Lardner.

We were 4 points ahead going in to injury time and unfortunately the Rovers were able to score 1-01 to level the game. Final Score: Fermoy 1-20 Bride Rovers 1-20

I apologise that I do not have a more detailed report but I was unable to attend the game and got the scorers recorded for me. The feedback from this game was very positive for us and it seems that we are starting to gel nicely and hopefully by the time the championship begins we will be in a great position to succeed.
